In numerous instances there is too much detail. The book is full of useful information based upon the practical experience of the author.

Experienced Project Managers can find some Gems that perhaps they have forgotten.

New Project Managers will find many practical approaches that can be used in their projects.

Managers in general can find the book useful in understanding what Project Managers do and what Project Mangement is all about.

Students can use it as a reference.

All-in-all it can be a useful addition to any library.

Excellent Book, Recomended on the A-List of PM books
The Project Management Paradigm is a superb resource for Project Managers. The author has created a tremendous resource for organizations. I have purchased copies as standard reading material for both our new Project Managers and experienced personnel.

Average review score:

Age of Innocence : Jeffrey Jones a prerafaelite of our time
One of the rarest books of the internationnaly acclaimed works of fantasy artist Jeffrey Jones. Active in the field of fantasy art since the sixties, Jones offers his magical paintings to the eye of the beholder and one who can truly admire his art will decifer art nouveau influences. This is most seen in his book Age of Innocence, a tribute to "la femme". Not just a book about painting more than that a book about the lost beauty of feminine innocence. A masterpiece. Be sure to buy the limited edition hardcover signed by the artist with a specialy numbered lithograph.

Camel Bells
Published in Hardcover by Groundwood Books (September, 2002)
Authors: Janne Carlsson, Angela Barnett-Lindberg, and Angela Burnett-Lindberg
Average review score:

A Fairy Tale Work of Nonfiction
There is a lot to commend this book to a young audience who is just gaining an interest in, or being exposed to the world of international affairs, and to South Asia in particular. Although it is not choc full of historical facts, it is graced with a very intimate glimpse into the world of two young men of modest means whose world was shattered by rebellion, conflict, and ultimately the Soviet invasion of 1979. As the two lads travel from their village to Kabul in order to gain extra income for their families, they learn harsh urban realities and ultimately the human toll of political instability. Bombs explode around them; jets drone over Kabul; the president is killed; and a new political day dawns before their eyes - a day which their youth has not yet prepared them to understand. While one seeks refuge back in the simplicity of his village, the other joins a band of mujahedeen, fighting government troops who now appear to be operating with support of the Soviets.

The book is quite short and almost written in a fairy tale fashion. For anyone who has traveled to Kabul, even in the 21st century, the descriptions remain strikingly current - as if it is indeed a place stuck in time. Taxis and buses weave about on dangerous collision courses; dust pervades every aspect of daily life; vendors peddle their wares using scales with bits of metal or stones as counterweights. The description of Chicken Street could have been written yesterday: "Chicken street was exactly as Hadi had described it. It was lined with shops where everything but chicken was sold. There were rows and rows of leather bags, small hand-knotted rugs, woodwork, blue grass from Herat, embroidered suede clothes, colorful cloth bags and Afghan musical instruments." While this book will not provide much for an experienced student of Afghanistan or international affairs, it will likely succeed at personalizing a remote locale for a young audience which might otherwise find it difficult to imagine or to even perceive as real.

Christopher Marlowe: The Complete Poems
Published in Paperback by Tuttle Publishing (01 March, 2001)
Authors: Mark Thornton Burnett and Christopher Marlowe
Average review score:

the sun's flame-bearing chariot
Marlowe's gifts as a dramatist are easily matched by his poetic accomplishments in other genres. While some may find his declamatory style and tendency toward bombast wearying in the plays, it is perfectly suited to the frieze-like beauties of HERO AND LEANDER, and particularly to the rhetorical excesses of Lucan, whose first book Marlowe translated "line for line." And few translations of Ovid AMORES capture his eroticism and wit as well as Marlowe's. A must-have selection of poems, convenient and affordable, although the apparatus and notes are not as helpful as those in the Penguin edition (now sadly out of print) edited by Stephen Orgel.

Contracts student
As a student of Contracts, this casebook is useful for learning the subject area. It provides several cases to adequately illustrate the areas of contract law & major concepts. Although it can be somewhat dry, the historical overviews provided by the editors can be helpful to the average law student.

Cruising Guide to the Virgin Islands: 1997-98
Published in Paperback by Cruising Guide Pubns (November, 1996)
Authors: Nancy Scott, Roger Burnett, and Simon Scott
Average review score:

A must read for any visitor to the Virgin Islands
Even if you aren't a yachtsman this book is a must when visiting the Virgin Island particularly the British Virgins. There is information on the island's beaches, restaurants and other features that are very relevant. Its spiral bound for constant use and a handy size too. The publishers rely on a demand for reprinting this guide on a regualar basis. Unlike other travel books where advertisers have heavy influence on content, the Cruising Guide must rely on the quality of it's content to prosper. Gator

Fun Read
This book is fun to read. Plenty of suspense and action, but the characters are warm and likeable. Jolie Wyatt should especially appeal to fans of J.A. Jance's Joanna Brady.

Frances Hodgson Burnett (Twayne's English Authors Series)
Published in Hardcover by Twayne Pub (August, 1984)
Author: Phyllis Bixler
Average review score:

Good source for critiques
For readers who are interested in Burnett's novels for adults, Bixler's work is a very good companion volume to Ann Thwaite's "Waiting for the Party".

Divided into several sections and including a chronology, Bixler summarizes Burnett's most famous works plus her lesser known novels and plays. Special attention is given to Burnett's novel "Through One Administration", which was much lauded in its day for its insight and plausibility (and the fact that it did not have a guaranteed happy ending).

Along with providing brief but concise biographical data on Burnett (heavily citing Thwaite), Bixler's work is a helpful and informative source for readers interested in the artist's personal, as well as professional, life.
